The Story Behind The Moments Film
After four years of creating wedding films, I felt the need to reevaluate our films and better hone in our style and vision.
I realized that what brought me the most joy as a wedding film maker was capturing the real moments of the wedding day, and gifting my clients with the opportunity to remember and relive those moments for the rest of their lives.
I knew that I just couldn’t do this in a five or even twelve minute highlight film. I needed to create something new.
Old School Meets New School
Old school wedding videos (you know, like from your parents days) get a lot of flak, and rightly so. They were mostly just a guy walking around with a giant VHS camcorder, filming whatever he felt like, and then giving you a five hour long video with shaky footage, poor audio quality, and zero creativity. When I first started out as a wedding filmmaker I thought I would never do anything even close to that. What I wanted to create was a cinematic, fast-paced, story driven highlight film that would wow everyone who saw it.
But as the years passed I realized there was something quite beautiful that old school style offered that a highlight film just couldn’t.
With the old-school films you got to see everybody who was at your wedding, you got a much better feel for what it was like to be there as a guest, you got to see all the spontaneous and funny moments, and you had the opportunity to stop and take the time to enjoy reliving your wedding day with your spouse and family as you watched it together.
I began to realize that, though we are now in a fast-paced world with ridiculously short attention spans, people are wanting to stop and take in life again at a slower pace.
I decided to learn from those old-school guys, but with a new school twist. Now I am able to combine my skills as a filmmaker with the professional level equipment that is available today and create something that is fine tuned, detail oriented, cinematic, but also raw and authentic.
I realized that what I am most passionate about is capturing the real moments of a wedding day as they happen spontaneously, and creating a longer film that allows people to slow down and truly take in and relive the moments of their wedding day.
What Exactly Is a Moments Film?
A Moments Film is a longer film that has time to showcase all of the moments of your wedding day.
We offer three different time lengths - 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and one hour.
It’s in chronological order.
It’s lovingly edited at a slower pace so that you can really relive and appreciate each moment as it happens. The most important and entertaining moments will be featured in their entirety just as they happened. Anything that we feel hinders the flow of the film or is not a significant moment is not included.
We use music throughout the film to help bring out the emotion that’s already there.
